Kathmandu’s Monkey Temple in Photos

People seem to have such mixed feelings about monkeys. Personally I find them adorable and full of character. So of course a visit to the Swayambhunath Temple Complex, better known as the Monkey Temple, would be on my list of places to visit in Kathmandu.

Swayambhunath is first and foremost a religious site but I really only came for the monkeys.

The Monkey Temple is open daily. It costs 200 rupees to enter the temple complex at the top of the hill but it is worth it for the view alone. Don’t take any food or drinks with you and hold onto your possessions. The monkeys are known to steal things and can become aggressive. As long as you keep your distance you shouldn’t have a problem with them though.
